Drivers who are unfamiliar with the interchange make sudden lane changes, and the volume of commercial truck traffic through this connector is significant. Multi-vehicle pileups during wet or icy conditions are not uncommon.
Why it is dangerous: Sheer complexity. Multiple merge and diverge points within a short distance, high speeds, heavy truck traffic, and confusing signage for drivers who do not use the interchange regularly.
